摘要：In this talk I will give an elementary description of Thurston's mapping class group-equivariant deformation retraction of Teichmuller space onto the Thurston spine. This is a cell complex in Teichmuller space corresponding to the set of points at which the shortest geodesics (the systoles) cut the surface into polygons.
