The faculty of mathematics and computational science in Sun Yat-sen University was established in July, 1997. It is built on the department of mathematics which started its functioning at 1924. Currently, the department consists of department of mathematics, department of statistics, department of scientific computation and computer applications, together with an institute of mathematics and an institute of computational science and computer applications.
